NAME: Dokuja, Yaksha.
ALIAS: Silver-Tongued Devil
AGE: 500
GENDER: Male
RACE: Demon
APPEARANCE: Yaksha is, above all else, tall. He stands roughly twelve feet tall, easily half of his coming from his legs. A typical person stands roughly waist-height to him, and this is just how he likes it. He dresses in lavish clothing, the kind of things that humans from the 17th or 18th century would've considered affluent. He is, beneath his outfit, exceptionally thin and bony. He looks like, at any moment, he could be broken in half by a sharp breeze. But he moves with a cool poise, and seems to act as if, despite his frailty, he could never be defeated. His features are primarily human, but in places it becomes clear that he's something very very different.
His face is one of the more striking features about him, being what most people would call terrific. It's got beautiful symmetry, his eyes a rare shade of hazel that is hard to find even among humans. His hair, slicked back neatly and well-maintained, gives him an almost greasy aura about him, but this is easily dispelled by his smile. Yaksha's smile is the sort of thing a person has to spend decades perfecting, able to light up and combine all of his features in a way that warms the heart. He never seems to grow facial hair, though when he's experiencing a lot of stress his skin seems to flake and peel.
PERSONALITY: Yaksha is a trickster, and proud to admit it. When he speaks to others, he maintains an air of amusement, making sure never to give away more than a few tiny scraps; his reactions, when he does have them, tend to be very overblown, almost a parody of real human interaction. He doesn't cry, he doesn't mourn, and he doesn't show fear. He seems to look at the world as if he were a passive observer, and it's because of this that he's managed to remain so resilient. He quite simply does not get tripped up by those around him, and seems to take a clear enjoyment out of tripping others up.
Beneath the facade, Yaksha is a much more difficult to understand creature. Though a demon, he seems to favor humans more; he speaks fondly to them, enjoys their presence more than his demonic brethren, and generally seems to lament the fact that he was born so far from humanity. But there's a sharp edge to it, as well; he'll manipulate and wreck human lives to prove he can, and remind himself that he's on some level 'above' them. He'll go well out of his way to prove that he fits in neither with demons nor humans. Yaksha does not like to feel like he's part of some larger group, and is always more comfortable blazing his own trail. He holds no ill will towards others, but he's performed any number of ill acts over the years.
HISTORY: Yaksha is an old, old demon even by demon standards. When he was born, he lived a fairly normal life, although he was confused for a human for the first twenty years of his life; though the presence of his yoki was clear to everyone, it never seemed to...do anything. But at the age of twenty-one for the first time, Yaksha shed. Literally. He peeled off his face and seemed to switch it out, losing many of the boyish features he had one had. It was a monumental moment, and one he still remembers fondly; the day he realized he could so easily fool those around him.
He spent the rest of his life wandering, inciting violence and fights. He seemed to have no allegiances, no ties to anyone, and with his powers it was nearly impossible for him to be tracked down over significant periods. He enjoyed his minor prowess and prestige, being able to subtly poke the powerful people within the demon world into causing all sorts of strife. He never did join any of the demon kings, and to his credit he seemed largely to escape their gaze. Countless demons were thrown under the bus to keep himself afloat.
He was first approached by one of Hashimoto's men when he was 70, and he immediately refused. The idea of the human world had always been alluring to him, and he'd gone to examine the spirit net many a time. He enjoyed it, the sense of wonder and newness among them. The humans seemed to grow in a way demons never did...he wondered if there may have been a chance out there, for him to have his wit truly challenged. He feared it, in fact. He turned down Hashimoto time and time again, refusing to stray into the man's territory; he had learned well enough from his own experience that deals with those in power tended to end one way for those at the bottom. And so the cycle continued for some time.
The cycle broke, not too long ago. News reached Yaksha, and his soul nearly soared when he realized that there was a new world at his fingertips to explore. He had watched from afar for some time, had managed to enjoy himself, and had been able to model himself after the humans he had seen. Now, ready to go out into the world, he has nothing but high hopes for what's about to come; a world, fresh for the picking, full of such interesting fruits. And such succulent juices.
